THE NEW GENERATION OF THE SUN FAST 3200: R2 VERSION
The perfect compromise between racing under IRC ratings rules and the strict one-design ethos beloved by the most irrepressible fans of real-time racing.
The first rule of the Sun Fast 3200 one-design class is therefore to ensure a level rating for all yachts in the class (TCC of 1.000 in 2011).
To achieve this, the key elements of the IRC rating calculation have been fixed :
• The hull, appendices and rigging are identical on every boat and may not be modified.
• The boat must carry a precise inventory of equipment to help ensure minimum variation in weight.
• Using the very latest production technologies (and especially infusion moulding), Chantiers Jeanneau has been able to set extremely exacting manufacturing tolerances to govern the delivery weight of the boat (+/- 40 kg, which is less than 1.15% of its total racing weight).
• The key dimensions of the sail plan are fixed (identical height, width and IRC area).
So apart from this extremely limited possible discrepancy in racing weight, the performance factors are absolutely identical from boat to boat.
